A problem and responsible gambling advocate, Brianne Doura-Schawohl has described as ‘disheartening and maddening’ the decision by Washington DC’s Council to cut funding for problem gambling.
The District of Columbia (DC)’s Council, also known as the Council of Committee of the Whole, on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve the FY 2024 budget but without the annual funding for the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH).
Cutting of the fund by the council comes at a time many states are setting sizable amounts of their wagering revenue for problem gambling treatment including neighbouring US, Washington DC
