The English Premier League will return this weekend after an international break, and all 20 teams will be in action. Here are our EPL betting picks for Matchweek 9, which kicks off on Saturday, October 21.
Liverpool, who have garnered one point in their last two EPL games, should bounce back in this fixture. Everton are one of the worst Premier League sides, and they will struggle to hang with the Reds this weekend. Enter Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s best attacking player. After a slow start on the scoring front, Salah has netted three goals in his last three EPL games, and against a poor Everton team, he is set up to score another.
Manchester City have a Kevin De Bruyne problem. His absence has really affected the Cityzens in recent weeks, and they will enter this game on a two-match losing streak. In turn, Brighton should be able to keep this game close. While the Seagulls have struggled in recent games, they still sit in fifth place and have the talent to challenge City. Brighton have two wins from three away matches this season and should be able to cover the +1.25 handicap in what should be a very entertaining game.
After a few bad games, Newcastle have bounced back and now will enter this game in terrific form. They have won four of their last six games across all competitions, and over that stretch, they have outscored their opponents 17-3. Crystal Palace have been a solid but uninspiring team, and they will struggle against a strong Newcastle side. At home, the Magpies have won three straight contests, and they should make it four in this spot.
Although Chelsea have rattled off two straight EPL wins, we still don’t trust them. They do not have consistent goalscoring options, and they will struggle to break down a stout Arsenal defence that has conceded a league-best six goals. Arsenal have nine points from three EPL away games this season, and they should get the win in what promises to be the game of the weekend.
Marcus Rashford has really struggled this season, but he is in a prime spot to get back on the goal sheet. The Manchester United striker has only scored one Premier League goal this term, but he is consistently creating opportunities and has been unlucky when it comes to the final product. Against this league-worst Sheffield defence that has conceded 22 goals in eight games, we expect that to change.
This should be a tight affair, but it is hard to look past the home side. Aston Villa enter this game having garnered 10 points from their last four matches, while West Ham have only earned four points in that same span. Villa are also undefeated at home this season. At -105 with top EPL betting sites, this is a great value bet.
Sitting top of the table, Tottenham have adjusted to life without Harry Kane better than anyone expected. A big part of that is their main man, Son Heung-min, who has scored six goals in his last five EPL games and is flourishing in this new-look Spurs team. Fulham are a solid team, but they have conceded 13 goals through eight games, and Tottenham should be able to create a lot of chances at home. At -110, we like Son’s odds to finish one of them.
