The Bundesliga’s Matchday 15 is here with nine matches of top-quality German soccer action. Here is our preview and free Bundesliga betting picks for this weekend’s games.
Friday, December 15 – 8:30pm CET – Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK
Following their disappointing defeat to last-placed Union Berlin last weekend, Borussia Monchengladbach will be looking to bounce back as they welcome fellow mid-table side Werder Bremen. After a four-match winless streak, Bremen finally broke their drought as they beat FC Augsburg 2-0 last weekend. History between the sides shows Werder Bremen have won just once in their past 13 matches against Monchengladbach, who should be too strong once again.
Saturday, December 16 – 3:30pm CET – WWK Arena
Borussia Dortmund are now winless in their last three matches and have seen their title hopes disappear. Badly needing a win to stay in reach of the top four, they travel to Augsburg this weekend. Augsburg sit ninth on the table and will be confident in causing an upset this weekend; however, they have not beaten Dortmund since 2019.
Saturday, December 16 – 3:30pm CET – Vonovia Ruhrstadion
After climbing their way out of the relegation zone with a win last weekend, Union Berlin now have another opportunity for critical points in the relegation fight as they face 14th-placed VfL Bochum. As these two sides have struggled to hit the scoreboard this season, expect this match to be a low-scoring affair.
Saturday, December 16 – 3:30pm CET – Merck-Stadion am Bollenfalltor
Sitting in last place on the table, SV Darmstadt have struggled all season — particularly in defence, as they have conceded six more goals than any other side. This presents a great opportunity for Wolfsburg, who have lost their past three matches, to gain some much-needed points. Despite playing away, Wolfsburg should be too strong.
Saturday, December 16 – 3:30pm CET – MEWA ARENA
After a crucial win last weekend, FC Heidenheim now has another opportunity for vital points as they face fellow relegation contenders FSV Mainz. Sitting in 17th, Mainz have shown glimpses of quality with just one loss in their past six matches, but their inability to hit the scoreboard has been a major concern. Expect this to be a close, low-scoring contest.
Saturday, December 16 – 6:30pm CET – Red Bull Arena
Following their impressive 3-2 win against Dortmund last weekend, RB Leipzig now continue their top-four push as they welcome TSG Hoffenheim. The third-best away side in the Bundesliga, Hoffenheim will be confident of an upset here. However, they have won just one of their past 11 meetings with Leipzig, who should be too good at home.
Sunday, December 17 – 3:30pm CET – Europa-Park Stadion
Unbeaten in their last three matches, SC Freiburg are climbing their way up the table as they chase a European spot. This weekend they welcome FC Koln, who sit in 16th position with the worst attack in the Bundesliga. The past four matches between the sides have all had less than 2.5 goals scored, so expect another low-scoring match.
Sunday, December 17 – 5:30pm CET – BayArena
Sitting top of the league, the undefeated Bayer Leverkusen will be keen to get back to winning ways after drawing their last two matches. However, they face another dangerous side as Eintracht Frankfurt look to repeat their 5-1 demolition of Bayern Munich. Leverkusen should be too strong, but against the unpredictable Frankfurt, this match should have plenty of goals.
Sunday, December 17 – 7:30pm CET – Allianz Arena
Wrapping up Matchday 15, we have an exciting matchup as the second-placed VfB Stuttgart face the third-placed Bayern Munich. In a match with major title implications, Bayern will be keen to bounce back from their embarrassing defeat to Frankfurt last weekend. Despite their fairytale run, Stuttgart should be no match for the German giants in Bavaria.
