With just 10 weeks to go in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, the race for positions is heating up across the table. Below are our free soccer picks for all nine matches of Matchday 25.
Friday, March 8 – 8:30pm CET – MHPArena
Now six matches unbeaten, VfB Stuttgart continue their impressive run towards European football as they sit in third position. They haven’t lost at home since October, and that isn’t expected to change as they welcome the 14th-placed Union Berlin. The odds heavily skewed in Stuttgart’s favour, but it is worth that they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past seven matches.
Saturday, March 9 – 3:30pm CET – WWK Arena
FC Augsburg recorded their biggest-ever Bundesliga win last weekend as they crushed SV Darmstadt 6-0 on the road. Now looking for their third consecutive win, they welcome fellow mid-table side FC Heidenheim. With just one win from their past eight, Heidenheim have struggled recently, and a 5-2 defeat to Augsburg earlier this season suggests that their poor form will continue.
Saturday, March 9 – 3:30pm CET – Allianz Arena
With just one win from their past four Bundesliga matches, Bayern Munich have now fallen 10 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Hoping to keep any title chances alive, they have an opportunity to return to form as they the 17th-placed FSV Mainz this weekend. With Bayern expected to dominate the match, keep an eye out for Jamal Musiala, who has shown good form with two goals and an assist in the past three matches.
Saturday, March 9 – 3:30pm CET – BORUSSIA-PARK
With just one win from their past 12 matches, the 16th-placed FC Koln are running out of time to claw their way out of the relegation zone. Sitting eight points from safety, they are looking for an upset as they face the 12th-placed Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend. As ‘Gladbach have just one win from their past seven matches and hold a poor recent record against their local rivals, this should be closer than expected.
Saturday, March 9 – 3:30pm CET – Red Bull Arena
Sitting just one point outside the top four, RB Leipzig have an excellent opportunity to put pressure on the sides above them as they face SV Darmstadt. With the league’s bottom side coming off a 6-0 loss, an upset appears unlikely. Leipzig striker Lois Openda already has 17 goals this season, including a double over Darmstadt in October, so he looks a good bet to add to that tally this weekend.
Saturday, March 9 – 6:30pm CET – wohninvest WESERSTADION
Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to improve on recent mixed results as they head on the road to face Werder Bremen. The River Islanders have taken points off many of the top sides this season, but their form is unpredictable. With much more on the line, Dortmund should be too strong, but given that Werder have scored in each of their past 12, expect plenty of action at both ends of the field.
Sunday, March 10 – 3:30pm CET – Vonovia Ruhrstadion
After securing an unexpected 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich last weekend, SC Freiburg are well and truly in the hunt for a top-six spot. Facing the 15th-placed VfL Bochum this weekend, Freiburg will be looking to continue their five-match winning streak between the sides. Coming off successive three-goal losses, the home side looks set to struggle against another top-half side.
Sunday, March 10 – 5:30pm CET – Deutsche Bank Park
Following a run of nine straight matches without a win, TSG Hoffenheim have revived their top-six hopes with wins over the past two weeks. Now they face the sixth-placed Frankfurt with hopes of cutting down the four-point gap between the sides. Frankfurt have just one win from their past seven matches, but as they are playing at home, this should be a close game.
Sunday, March 10 – 7:30pm CET – BayArena
Sitting on top of the table with a 10-point lead, everything is going right for the undefeated Bayer Leverkusen this season. This weekend they welcome the 13th-placed Wolfsburg, who have gone nine matches without a win. Expected to dominate once again, look for Xabi Alonso’s side to continue to play through the wingbacks as Alex Grimaldo continues his stellar season.
