NBA signs betting data deal with Genius Sports and Sportradar

The two data firms will distribute stats and other content to licensed betting operators in the US.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has reached a landmark data agreement with Genius Sports and Sportradar.

The deal will see the two companies distribute statistics, digital content and other resources to sports betting operators in the United States.

It is the first partnership of its kind in American basketball.

“Sportradar and Genius Sports are proven leaders in data distribution and will deliver unparalleled, real-time official NBA betting data,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

Genius Sports already has data distribution deals with a number of sporting bodies worldwide, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as gambling integrity partnerships with Major League Baseball (MLB), the English Premier League (EPL) and the PGA Tour.

“We are world renowned for driving innovation in basketball sports betting and look forward to inspiring a more engaging betting experience for NBA fans,” said Genius CEO Mark Locke.

While the US gambling industry is new terrain for Sportradar, the firm has worked with the NBA in overseas markets and also has affiliations with the National Football League (NFL), the National Hockey League (NHL), Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Electronic Sports League (ESL), among others.

“We are excited to continue working with the NBA on this multi-faceted partnership that now also covers the US,” said Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl.

The NBA data agreement covers the regular season, playoffs and finals, along with the entire WNBA season.
