Spain could be a stepping stone to Latin America, according to LeoVegas chief Gustaf Hagman.
LEOVEGAS has announced its intention to enter the Spanish gambling market in the first quarter of 2019.
The Scandinavian gambling operator is presently awaiting approval of applications for online casino and sports betting licences.
Spain launched its own regulated gambling industry in 2012 and now boasts one of the fastest-growing gaming and wagering sectors in all of Europe.
For LeoVegas, a move into Spain could also open up doors to the lucrative gambling sectors of Latin America.
“We are now taking the next step on our global expansion journey and apply for our first licence in a Spanish-speaking country,” said Gustaf Hagman, LeoVegas Group CEO.
“Spain is one of the fastest-growing markets in Europe.
“Through our technology and experience, we can effectively adapt our business to regulated markets regardless of language and regulations.
“Therefore, we expect to launch in Spain in the first quarter of 2019.
“Naturally, we see the establishment in the Spanish market as a first step to get into several Spanish-speaking countries.”
This is just the latest in a series of big moves by LeoVegas, which recently gained a licence to operate in Sweden.
