William Hill launches online sports betting in Sweden

William Hill has set up shop in Sweden with online sports betting and casino games at Redbet.se.

The British gambling giant acquired the site earlier this year when it completed a big-money takeover of MRG Group.

That deal saw Hills take over a number of established online gambling brands, including Redbet and Mr Green.

It also gave the company access to several regulatory jurisdictions where MRG held licences, such as Denmark, Italy, Latvia, Malta and Sweden.

“This is an important milestone in William Hill’s international journey,” said Patrick Joncker, the firm’s international marketing director.

“Through fantastic teamwork between our teams in Malta, UK and Sweden we have released William Hill’s first new locally licensed offering since 2011.”

The Redbet bookmaker will cover all manner of local and international sports betting, with a special focus on popular Swedish sports such as bandy, ice hockey and trotting.

The site will also offer online casino gambling with a variety of digital slots and table games as well as live dealer versions of baccarat, blackjack and roulette.
