There is little separating the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL betting lines for their Week 5 clash in Washington.
The Rams are coming off their first loss of the season and it was a pretty shocking one, as they went down 55-40 at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They had only given up 22 points in their previous two games before getting shelled for just over twice that amount by the Bucs.
After suffering their first loss of the season, the Seahawks bounced back in their last game beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-10.
In the loss to the Bucs the Rams had more yards (518 to 464) but they had no run game to speak of with only 28 rushing yards and they committed four turnovers. Jared Goff passed for a whopping 517 yards with two touchdowns, but he was responsible for all the turnovers with three interceptions and a fumble. Robert Woods had 164 receiving yards and Cooper Kupp had 121 receiving yards.
Todd Gurley had seven catches for 54 yards, but he has struggled to run the ball this season. In the loss to Tampa Bay he did have two rushing touchdowns but only had 16 rushing yards averaging 3.2 yards per carry.
The Seattle defense has been solid against the run and decent against the pass and in their last game they gave up 321 yards.
The Seahawks took it to the Cardinals early in their 27-10 win outscoring them 20-3 in the first half. Jadeveon Clowney had a pick-six in the first quarter and Russell Wilson passed for 240 yards with a touchdown and was not picked off. Chris Carson had his best game of the season rushing for 104 yards and averaged a solid 4.7 yards per carry.
The Rams rank in the middle of the pack in the league in pass defense but in the loss to the Bucs they gave up 376 passing yards. Clay Mathews has five sacks while two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald only has one.
Getting to Wilson will be the key for the Rams, as they cannot give him time in the pocket. He has eight touchdowns and does not have any interceptions and ranks fifth in the league in quarterback rating.
The Rams are 2-0 on the road early in the season and the Seahawks are 1-1 at home losing their last home game to the New Orleans Saints. Last season the Rams won both games facing the Seahawks, where each was close and high scoring.
LA Rams to win – -113 at Bovada
The Rams were embarrassed in their last game, giving up 55 points in their own house. They will get back on track in this game and the main reason will be Goff, who will have a much better night under center. There is also a good chance Gurley will have a breakout game as the Rams move to 4-1 with a win in the Great Northwest.
