VfL Wolfsburg hosts RB Leipzig this Sunday in the highest-profile match of Matchweek 3 in the Bundesliga. We picked a winner in that game and also have a pair of picks for FC Augsburg vs Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Bayern Munich vs Hertha Berlin in this week’s Bundesliga soccer betting tips.
FC Augsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer 04 Leverkusen (1-1-0) shook off a lackluster performance in its 1-1 draw against Union Berlin with a 4-0 blowout victory over Monchengladbach last Saturday. Leverkusen finished last season ranked third in goals against with only 39 conceded in 34 matches; more life from the offense this season could help the club improve on last year’s 14-10-10 record.
FC Augsburg (0-1-1) finished last season with a 10-6-18 record to go along with a -18 goal differential that ranked fifth worst in the Bundesliga. This season is not off to a much better start with a 4-0 loss to Hoffenheim at home in week one and a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend. It’s hard to see Augsburg breaking through against this stingy Leverkusen defense, making the road team a clear play at only -130.
Bayern Munich vs Hertha Berlin
Bayern Munich (1-1-0) defeated Koln 3-2 at home last Sunday and then torched Bremer SV 12-0 with many key starters resting in the first round of DFB-Pokal on Wednesday. Bayern is a massive -500 favorite at home this Saturday against Hertha Berlin. Hertha (0-0-2) is the only team in Bundesliga without a point through two games and has been outscored 5-2 in those first two matches.
Considering how poor Hertha’s defense is, we are expecting Bayern Munich to score plenty of goals at home on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski’s line is set at two goals, which is reasonable, but a high bar to hit. The better player prop value is on midfielder Serge Gnabry to score a goal at +120. Gnabry scored two goals against Koln and should have the green light again this weekend. He has scored at least 10 goals in each of his three previous seasons in Bayern.

VfL Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig
VfL Wolfsburg (2-0-0) is the only club to start the 2021-22 season off with a perfect 2-0-0 record. The wolf pack finished in the Bundesliga top four for just the third time in club history last season and looks poised to build on that performance this season.
But after earning wins over Hertha and VfL Bochum, Wolfsburg will receive a much tougher test this Sunday hosting RB Leipzig. Leipzig (1-0-1) went 19-8-7 last season and is coming off of a 4-0 victory at home over VfB Stuttgart after losing 1-0 to FSV Mainz 05 in Matchweek 1.
This is going to be an interesting matchup; four of the last five games between these two teams have ended in a draw. The safe play may be to take Wolfsburg with a half-goal against the spread, but we’re going to take a shot on them to carry their early-season momentum into a home upset this weekend.
