Napoli is off to a 2-0-0 start this season and will get its toughest test to date this Saturday when facing Juventus in Matchweek 3 of the 2021/22 Serie A season. Juve is off to a disappointing 0-1-1 start and should be hungry for three points coming off of the international break.
Napoli opened the 2021-22 season with a 2-0 win over Venezia and followed that up with a 2-1 road win over Genoa, getting a goal from Andrea Petegna in the 84th minute of that match to earn the victory. After a disappointing 13-1-8 start to the 2020-21 campaign, Napoli lost only one match in its last 16 last season going 11-4-1 from February 28 on. The club has carried that momentum into this season and is now 8-3-0 in its last 11 league matches.

Juventus was responsible for Napoli’s one loss during its impressive season-ending run, taking an early lead on a Cristiano Ronaldo goal en route to a 2-1 victory. This time around, Juve won’t have Ronaldo to lean on following his move Manchester United. Fresh off a disappointing 2-2 draw on the road against Udinese, Juventus was stunned in a 1-0 home loss to Empoli in its last league game.
The international break last weekend came at a good time for Juventus, as this team definitely needed to regroup and recalibrate. The giants of Piedmont are 36-time Serie A champions who won nine straight league titles from 2011-12 through 2019-20 before last season’s shock fourth-place finish. Suddenly, this dominant group is without its best player and looking up at the leaders from the bottom half of the table. There is obviously plenty of time for Juventus to regroup, but this isn’t what anyone had in mind when Massimiliano Allegri returned to Turin.
So what should we expect in this matchup? It’s entirely possible that Juventus comes out refreshed from the break and earns a statement win on the road. But while we don’t know what to expect from Juventus, we can safely assume that Napoli will be in top form given the club’s league dominance since the second half of last year. Napoli is 2-0 in its last two home matches against Juventus, and we will take them to improve to 3-0 in this one.
