Michael Page will attempt to avenge the only loss of his professional career this Saturday when he takes on Douglas Lima in the main event of Bellator 267. While the rest of the main card has some pretty lopsided favorites, the main event is about as evenly matched as it gets in mixed martial arts. Here’s a preview of all five bouts on the main card this Saturday at the SSE Arena in London, England.
Douglas Lima (32-9-0) defeated Michael Page in a second round knockout back in 2019 in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix semifinal. Lima would go on to win the Grand Prix and the Bellator Welterweight World Championship with his victory against Rory MacDonald at Bellator 232. But since then, Lima has suffered back-to-back losses, first to Gegard Mousasi at middleweight attempting to become a two-division champion and then to Yaroslav Amosov in June to lose the Welterweight World Championship.
Michael Page (19-1-0) has bounced back from his loss to Lima with five straight wins including four knockout wins. He has been fighting in the UFC since 2013 and has amassed a 16-1 record in 17 fights with the promotion. A win over Lima would allow Page to put the only loss of his career behind him and would likely earn him a shot at the Bellator Welterweight World Championship.
This should be a fantastic fight that could very easily go either way. Both of these fighters are dangerous strikers and both have plenty on the line in this fight. In a bout that feels too close to call, we’ll go with Page, getting the slightly better odds and having the crowd behind him in his home town of London which should create a great atmosphere for this main event
Since losing the first fight of her professional career back in 2017, Leah McCourt (5-1-0) has reeled off five straight wins, most recently defeating Janay Harding with a triangle choke at Bellator 259 in May. Jessica Borga (3-3-0) is still trying to find her footing as a professional with a 3-3 career record and a 1-1 record thus far in Bellator. This is a showcase fight for McCourt, a Northern Ireland native, who should win it with relative ease in a crowd pleaser.
Rob Whiteford (16-4-0) entered the UFC with a 10-1 record in 2013 and went just 2-3 with the promotion. Since being released from the UFC, he is 4-0 in his last four fights including a knockout win over Sam Sicilia in his first fight in Bellator. Andrew Fisher (18-8-1) is a journeyman MMA fighter that also enters this fight with a four-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Ashleigh Grimshaw last October. Whiteford’s brings the superior skillset into this match and should pick up the win barring any mishaps.
Luke Trainer (4-0-0) is off to a 4-0 start to his professional MMA career with two submission wins and two knockout wins. The 25-year-old England native gets a favorable matchup going up against another England native in Yannick Bahati (9-5-0). Bahati has lost four of his last five fights and has been finished in all four of those losses. Look for Trainer to make quick work of Bahati with an early knockout in this spot.
Tim Wilde (13-4-0) is 4-1 over his last five matches including a 1-1 record in Bellator. Yves Landu (16-8-0) is 5-1 in his last six fights, most recently defeating Terry Brazier with a flying knee knockout in the first round of his Bellator debut. The French fighter Landu will be facing a hostile crowd going up against the England-based Wilde, but we like his chances of pulling off an upset in a fight that should be more competitive than these betting odds suggest.
