Real Madrid (14-4-1) improved to 9-2-0 over its last 11 games with a 2-1 road win over Athletic Bilbao last Wednesday. The club has pulled eight points ahead of Sevilla in first place on the La Liga table and has the best goal differential in the league by a comfortable margin at +25.
A couple of months ago, the idea of Getafe (3-6-9) being competitive against Real Madrid would have been ridiculous. Getafe opened the season with seven straight losses and an 0-3-8 record through its first 11 matches. But since then, Getafe is a respectable 3-3-1 and has allowed only one goal across its last five matches. Real Madrid is too good to bet against in this spot, so instead we’ll take the UNDER 2.5 goals; Getafe’s smothering defense should at least slow down Madrid’s offense, and we don’t expect much on offense from a Getafe team averaging 0.67 goals per game.
Atletico Madrid (8-5-5) looked like a club that would be in contention to defend its La Liga title through the first few months of the season with an 8-5-1 record through 14 games. Atletico fell apart in December however with an 0-0-4 record, allowing two goals in each of those four matches while scoring a total of only three. And now the club is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that will keep Antoine Griezmann, Koke, Hector Herrera and Joao Felix out against Rayo Vallecano (9-3-6).

Can Rayo Vallecano take advantage of Atletico Madrid’s terrible form? Probably not. Rayo has been awful on the road this season with a 1-2-6 road record including an 0-1-4 record in its last five road games, in sharp contrast to the club’s elite 8-1-0 record at home. And COVID-19 has hit this squad even harder than Atletico Madrid with a staggering 17 first-team players testing positive. If this game isn’t postponed, we like the UNDER 2.5 goals again; this figures to be a pretty sloppy game that both teams will be content to play conservatively.
Grenada (5-7-6) failed to win a match through its first seven contests in 2021-22 with an 0-3-4 record. The club has been rock-solid since then however with a 5-4-2 record that includes a current 3-2-0 unbeaten streak. Granada most recently earned a 2-1 victory at home over Atletico Madrid.
Elche (3-6-9) lost its second straight game in its last match against Barcelona. The club has won only one match out of its last 10 with a 1-3-6 record over that stretch. This is a tough one to call as Granada hasn’t enjoyed much success on the road this season with a 1-5-3 record away from home. But getting good underdog odds on a team in far better form than its opponent, we’ll take a shot on Granada here.
