Day four of the Australian Open takes place this Wednesday, and there are some great betting opportunities across tennis betting apps. We dig into these round two matches, looking at a couple of Aussies in action, one of whom we predict will cause a major upset.
Read on for the best bets to make on day four of the Australian Open.
James Duckworth scored a solid win over Dominic Stricker in round one, but that win was largely due to the Swiss player being in poor form. Roberto Carballes Baena, however, just beat no.23 seed Alejandro Tabilo in four sets and is looking excellent.
He started the year well with some strong performances before this major, while Duckworth looked pretty bleak. Yes, the Australian will have the backing of the crowd, but with odds of -125 at Bovada, we have to take the Spaniard to win the match.
Both Sebastian Korda and Aleksandar Vukic had rough opening matches in Melbourne, winning in four and five sets, respectively. However, we predict Korda will be able to win this one in straight sets. He got the struggle match out of the way, and now he’s going to catch fire, as he usually does in Australia. Expect a clean 3-0 to get under this line for the American.
On paper, this is not a matchup that should favour Ajla Tomljanovic. Diana Shnaider is a brutal baseliner who bludgeons you to death with her heavy ball. Still, we like the chances of Tomljanovic here.
Not only is she playing at home, but the Aussie looks locked in this week. Shnaider has shown some shyness in her play recently and is not nearly as impressive as she was in flashes last year. With odds of +300 for an upset across tennis betting sites, back Tomljanovic to steal this one.
