The 76ers have won two in a row and six of their last seven games. They are fourth in the NBA Eastern Conference and while under .500 on the road (5-7), they are perfect at home (12-0) on the season.
Early in the season in Denver, the Nuggets beat the 76ers 100-97. Even so, the Sixers have covered the spread in five of their last six games facing the Nuggets.
In their last game, the Nuggets were on the road and lost to the Brooklyn Nets 105-102. Denver shot the three-pointer well but only shot 40.4% from the floor and allowed Brooklyn to shoot 46%. Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 24 points on 10/21 shooting and also had 11 boards. He and Jamal Murray (21 points, 7/17 shooting) were the only Denver starters to go for double figures.
This season the Nuggets are 6-4 on the road and have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games facing a team with a winning record.
Murray (18.2 ppg) has failed to shoot over 42% from the floor in his last two games. Jokic is averaging a double-double on the season (16.1 ppg, 10.1 rpg) and has totaled 54 points and 21 rebounds in his last two games. He needs help in the scoring department and his defense against Philly big man Joel Embiid will be key.
The 76ers are coming off a 110-104 home win over the defending champion Toronto Raptors. They had 20 turnovers in the game but shot 50.6% from the floor while the Raptors only shot 50.6%. Embiid only had 11 points and eight rebounds, but six players for the 76ers scored in double figures. Tobias Harris had 26 points and Matisse Thybulle, who is only averaging 4.7 ppg, came off the bench to go for 20 points.
Embiid leads the 76ers in scoring (21.9 ppg) and rebounding (12.5 ppg), although he has coughed up 15 turnovers in Philly’s last two games. Harris is the second-leading scorer on the team (19.2 ppg) and has gone for at least 26 points in three of his last four games.
Philadelphia 76ers -4 at -111.11 with Bovada
The 76ers will lose at home sometime, but not yet. They will take advantage of the slumping Nuggets and play well on both sides of the floor. Embiid will have a solid game as Philly win and cover to send Denver to their third straight loss.
