Game 6 – Saturday, May 26, 9:00 PM EST at ORACLE Arena Oakland, CA
At Bovada the Warriors are a 10.5-point favorite at home with the total sitting at 214
The Rockets lead this series 3-2
The Warriors find themselves in a position they are not used to being in with their backs against the wall down 3-2 in this series. They have lost two in a row and fell to the Rockets 98-94 in Game 5 in Houston.
The big question for this Game 6 for the Rockets is will Chris Paul play? He left Game 5 with less than a minute left with a hamstring injury and he is questionable for Game 6. However, he said he would be all right and asked if he would play in Game 6 he stated, “Oh yeah.”
In Game 6 the Warriors shot better than the Rockets (44.4% to 37.2%), but they also had 18 turnovers, including a costly one late in the game, and they only had four offensive rebounds while Houston had eight.
Paul and James Harden combined for 39 points, but were only 11/30 from the floor, but they got a huge boost from reserve Eric Gordon, who went for 24 points.
If Paul cannot go in Game 6 Gordon will have to have another solid game in the scoring department. Also, without Paul the Rockets have to play solid D again, as the more the games becomes a shootout the more the Warriors have the advantage.
The Warriors had balanced scoring in Game 5 with Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Klay Thomson each going for at least 22 points. Golden State needs to hold onto the rock, as four of five starters had at least three turnovers.
The Rockets have won the last two games of this series playing good defense, as they have held the Warriors, who are the highest scoring team in the league, to 92 and 94 points in the last two games.
The Warriors lost Game 4 at home and that snapped their 16-game post-season home winning streak. Including the regular season the Rockets have won two of three games facing the Rockets in Golden State.
I think Paul will play in this game and play well in what will be a close contest. While the Warriors will get the W at home and force a Game 7 in Houston the Rockets will cover the big 10.5-point spread at Bovada.
