Not only was the straight-sets win good for a +380 hit with 888sport (for those that took Kerber to win 2-0) but the German was at +1100 in pre-tournament outright markets.
Looking ahead, there’s no reason not to stick with Kerber for the 2018 US Open title.
She is priced at a whopping +1000 with 888sport for the title at Flushing Meadows, behind only Serena Williams in the Ante Post markets.
Kerber didn’t have a great year in 2017, but her form at Wimbledon was reminiscent of what we saw when she was at her best 2016. She didn’t have a great clay-court season in 2016, but at the Australian Open, on grass at Wimbledon, and at season’s end she was dynamite. Her form included a title at Flushing Meadows and the hard-court surface remains her best, despite the title on grass.

Kerber and Caroline Wozniacki will likely be the players that rival for this year’s title at New York. The Dane has twice made the Flushing Meadows final and she has a Grand Slam on the cement from Melbourne Park this season. Wozniacki and Kerber both promise to be very high seeds in the event as both have ample ranking points banked.
The 2018 US Open isn’t actually all that far off as it starts in about 6 weeks’ time. There is some pressure for punters to act sooner than later on Ante Post.
It’s not really clear what kind of condition Serena’s body is going to be in after her efforts from London. If she announces any kind of injury then the odds on Wozniacki and Kerber will surely shorten for Flushing Meadows before any balls on served on the North American hardcourts.
Punters should ‘dutch’ the Dane and the German, meaning both players should be taken. The best sportsbook to do that will is betway as they offer +1000 on Kerber and +1400 on Wozniacki.
