Alabama are looking to bounce back from a clobbering in the NCAAF National Championship game last season and they have the players to do it. Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa is back after rewriting the record books for the Crimson Tide last season and Jerry Jeudy leads a great WR corps. Even though the top two RBs left for the NFL the Tide are loaded in the backfield with last season’s third option Damien Harris, who averaged 6.7 yards per carry, and five-star freshman recruit Trey Sanders. The defense has been raided by the pros in the last few seasons and there may be some depth issues. Bama host LSU this year and do not face Georgia unless both advance to the title game.

Georgia have the promising Jake Fromm back under center and D’Andre Swift is pegged as the next star RB. The offensive line is stacked, but the team lost its top three WRs from last season. The defense may not have the big stars like they have in the last couple of seasons, but they have a slew of big-time recruits, especially ILB Nakobe Dean and Travon Walker. The Bulldogs do not face LSU or Alabama this season and while their toughest game in-conference may by on the road against Auburn, the big question may be if they can beat Alabama in the conference title game if they both get there.

LSU return 15 starters and could have a strong passing attack this season with Joe Brady leaving the New Orleans Saints to be the pass coordinator. Joe Burrow is back to inherit the new passing game, the WR corps is good led by Justin Jefferson (54 catches for 875 yards and 6 TD last season), and freshman John Emery Jr. is the second-best RB prospect in the country. Butkus Award winner Devin White is gone from the defense, which has many top recruits that have to step up right away. Facing Bama on the road is a tall task and they host Auburn in the previous game.

Can Florida football get back to national prominence? Feleipe Franks came up big in the 10-win season last year, the WR ranks are loaded as always, and RB Lamical Pirine may be primed for a big season after totaling nearly 1,000 yards from scrimmage last season. The young defense struggled at the beginning of 2018 but came on strong and that experience should make the Gators better on D this season. Florida do not play Georgia but have to hit the road to face LSU.

Auburn may have one of the better defenses in the nation, but they have a slew of question marks on offense. They have no go-to QB heading into the season, did not have a 1,000-yard rusher last season for the first time in 11 years, and they lost their top two WRs. The defense will be there for the Tigers, but can they put up enough points to mount a serious challenge for the SEC title?

Kentucky are coming off their best season in four decades, but National Defensive Player of the Year Josh Allen and UK’s all-time leading rusher Benny Snell are gone. Terry Wilson ranked 14th in the SEC in passing yards per game and will have to shoulder more of the load, while the defense is missing seven starters from last year. The Wildcats have some solid talent coming in, but they may be in rebuild mode and it does not help that they face Georgia on the road.

The Texas A&M football program is taken over by star coach Jimbo Fisher and it may be a tough first season. The Aggies have several holes on both sides of the ball, especially at RB and in the secondary, and have a killer schedule that includes a clash with Alabama and closes with consecutive away games at LSU and Georgia.
