THE Stars Group will extend its agreement with Resort Casino Hotel in New Jersey to include sports betting.
The parent company of Pokerstars has previously had an agreement in place to provide online casino and poker to New Jersey residents through Pokerstars’ NJ brand.
It was always a logical step to include sports betting in the agreement after New Jersey lead the way in getting the PASPA ruling thrown out, which paved the way for legal sports betting in the state.
This comes after Resort Casino Hotel and fantasy sports giant DraftKings announced a partnership and the release of a new app that allows users to bet on sports anywhere when they are within New Jersey.
With the extended partnership between The Stars Group and Resort Casino, punters can wager on sports via mobile and online through the BetStars brand.
BetStars is The Stars Group’s online sports betting brand focused on the European market. It holds several sports betting licenses worldwide in 17 different languages.
The Stars Group Senior Vice President of Strategy & Operations in the USA Matt Primeaux said: “we believe The Stars Group is uniquely qualified with the experience and insight needed to make sports betting a success in New Jersey.”
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, David Rebuck, revealed the extended partnership of Stars Group-Resorts Casino, is under consideration for approval by state regulators.
Currently, The Stars Groups offers betting products including live streaming, In-play wagering, and bespoke accumulators.
They also offer an ecosystem of free-to-play products and promotions and sports content, including professional basketball, football, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, horse racing, and hockey among others.
