A spicy Kenyan Premier League encounter will be on the cards this weekend when Ulinzi Stars take on Tusker F.C.

The Sunday afternoon encounter between the two former KPL champions will take place at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, with the Brewers featuring as the away side.

Robert Matano’s charges will be heading to the rift valley this weekend with the hope of shaking off their 2-1 defeat to Mathare United last Saturday. Mathare started the much anticipated encounter at full throttle, going ahead midway through the first half courtesy of a poacher’s finish by defender Johnstone Omurwa.

A free kick routine right from the Mathare training ground seemed to be going as planned when the lethal Kevin Kimani cut the ball back from the right flank, but the chance looked to have gone begging when Cliff Nyakeya failed to make proper contact with the ball.

It was as such no surprise when the visitors doubled their advantage in the 68th minute through James Kinyanjui. The ostentatious winger took full advantage of a defensive howler before doubling the lead with a venomous strike from within the area.

The hosts halved the deficit twelve minutes to stoppage time, but Mathare stood their ground to secure all three points at the Ruaraka Stadium.

Ulinzi Stars similarly registered a win last weekend, albeit their first of the season, after beating Sony Sugar 2-1 at the Awendo Green Stadium. Enosh Ochieng put Ulinzi ahead when he evaded his marker and got on the finishing end of a cross with a low header in the 25th minute, before capitalizing on a mistake by the Sony keeper to double the advantage for his side. The hosts however forced in a consolation in the dying moments of the game to deny the Soldiers a clean sheet.

It was surprisingly only the second win of the season for the 2010 Kenyan Premier League champions, and their first away from home.

Ulinzi Stars vs. Tusker F.C betting prediction

Tusker is currently sixth on the log with thirteen points; five points above first placed Bandari—who have a game in hand—and four points above Ulinzi in tenth.

Dunstan Nyaudo would relish nothing more than to stun the decorated Robert Matano, although it’s easier said than done given how the Soldiers have made a slow start to the campaign.
