Earlier drafts of the bill prohibited gambling on college sports and junior events, but the final version only forbids wagers on events involving New Hampshire schools.

New England is fast becoming a hotspot for sports betting activity, as Rhode Island already has sportsbooks in operation and Maine is well on the way towards legalisation.

“They’ve been a great economic generator for the Western region of our state, and I’m happy to play a small part in the good they do for this region.”
Bill S 154 now awaits final approval from Governor Roy Cooper.
